Just like at Cochina de Carlos, the menu at Carlos' Poco Loco has a vegan section and all items are clearly labeled that are vegan (as well as those that are gluten-free). At this point there are three vegan options. The first two are available at Cochina de Carlos: vegan street tacos and the vegan pineapple dish. There is also a vegan taco salad. Finally, there are several vegan sides including Spanish rice, Cuban white rice, Cuban congris, fried sweet plantain and fried green plantain.
We had the vegan taco salad and the vegan street tacos. Both had fresh ingredients and vegan sausage. They were quite good. We also had the fried sweet plantains, which were a real treat—very moist and tender.
The restaurant has a full-service bar and lots of space. Overall, the atmosphere was quite festive. In talking with Carlos a few months ago, his plan is to continue to introduce new vegan items on the Poco Loco menu, and so we look forward to tasting his new creations. But why wait? Check out Poco Loco now and support one of the Toledo-area's most vegan-friendly chefs!
