We enjoyed another amazing visit to 100% plant-based GreenSpace Café in Ferndale! Roasted Brussels Flatbread and Forest Mushroom Gnocchi for entrees and bumpy cake and cookie sandwich for dessert!

Okay, we started this blog to highlight restaurants in NW Ohio that provide good options for vegans and those who want a healthier diet. But there are a few places that we have found that are really worth the drive and GreenSpace Café in Ferndale, Michigan is one of them. GreenSpace is 100% plant-based and so there is no need to navigate the menu or interrogate the server. And it provides a fine dining experience complete with full bar and craft cocktails all the way to many delicious dessert options. It really is worth the hour or so drive.

The menu changes frequently but trust us, you will find something on it that you will adore. For an appetizer, we ordered their Farmer’s Board along with wild mushroom toast. One of the distinctive things about GreenSpace is their delicious nut cheeses. The Farmer’s Board is the vegan equivalent to a cheese and fruit plate and had three delicious vegan cheeses along with figs, crackers, homemade mustard, olives and pickled mushrooms. The mushroom toast had a smoked cashew cheese base along with several types of mushrooms.

For entrees, we had the Macro Bowl and a Salsicce flatbread pizza. The Macro Bowl had a brown rice base and included a mixture of things such as kimchee, roasted sweet potato, tofu and braised collards. The Salsicce pizza was an Italian style pizza with house-made seitan sausage, roasted red peppers and cashew cheese among other things. For dessert, we had a blueberry cobbler and the German chocolate cake.

This place is a vegan paradise. They have items that are labeled “cooking oil free” and others that are labeled “plant perfect,” dishes that are created based on Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn’s Plant Perfect Diet (no nuts, refined sugars, etc.). And the vegan cheeses are truly distinctive and delicious. We have a friend who said “I could never do vegan because I love cheese so much.” We got an order of nut cheese to go just for her.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! We went plant-based 14 months ago and have had such a hard time finding options. Your website is a gold mine, and I am now incredibly rich in knowledge!!

I have only been vegan for about a month and it was one of the best choices I have ever made. Fortunately, my significant other has been completely supportive in this change and has also made positive changes to his diet. We like to go out to eat at least once a week, but always find ourselves wondering where to go. You have given me a great source to use as a brand new vegan! Thank you!

Green space Cafe is owned by cardiologist Dr Joel Kahn, a great plant based advocate.
