Phoenix has great vegan food options, including a nice supply of vegan meat imitation products, vegan cheeses and vegan imitation tuna. They also have a nice supply of organic fruits and vegetables, and other treats that you won’t find at many of the big-box grocery stores. On our first visit, we loaded up with delicious bagels, English muffins, vegan truffles, organic pasta and even some Earth-friendly cleaning products. They also have many bulk foods available, such as nutritional yeast. We also bought some sesame garlic sticks and some carob-based energy balls, that were made in-house or locally.
Although some of the big-box stores are getting better vegan options (and some day, we want to do a comparison of various stores with vegan staples), we found many delights that we had never seen in the Toledo market at other places. The staff were extremely friendly.
It’s a co-op but anybody can shop there. If you do decide to join (and we did on the spot), membership is $36 per year. It brings you a 10% discount on non-sale items once per month and a newsletter. Check Phoenix out once. We think you’ll be excited to see what they have!
